Ingredients
- 4 pork chops, bone-in, about 3/4-inch thick
- salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 3 tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 large white onion, halved and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- pinch of ground cayenne pepper
- 2/3 cup apple cider
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
Directions
Step 1 –Heavily season the pork chops with salt and pepper on each side, then set them aside.
Step 2 –Using a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
Step 3 –Directly add in the pork chops and let them cook until they are a golden brown.
Step 4 –Move the pork chops to a plate and set aside. Let the chops rest for another 3 minutes.
Step 5 –Heat the same skillet to medium-high heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.
Step 6 –Add the apples and onion and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and translucent.
Step 7 –Mix in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne.
Step 8 –Add in the apple cider and heavy cream.
Step 9 –Place the pork chops back in the liquid, and cook it until the internal temperature of the chops reaches between 145 degrees F.
Step 10 –Let them rest for 3 minutes.
Step 11 –Serve the chops with the apple mixture on top.
