Apple Pie Pudding Cake is perhaps the most tender cake ever created, and it’s certainly one of the tastiest! The jammy apples in the center are sandwiched between the light, buttery, and moist cake on the bottom and the bright orange sauce with just a touch of warm cinnamon. It’s heavenly! Low effort but highly delicious, Apple Pie Pudding Cake is a wonderfully comforting end to the evening!
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup plus 1/4 cup sugar, divided
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, cold, plus 2 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
- 1 cup milk
- 4 apples, such as Gala or Honeycrisp, peeled and diced
- 1 1/2 cups orange juice
- 1/2 cup honey, can substitute light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
Step 1 –In a large bowl, add the flour, 2/3 cup of the sugar, the baking powder, and the salt and stir to combine.
Step 2 –Add 1/2 cup of the cold butter to the flour mixture and cut it in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 3 –Add the milk to the crumb mixture and stir until just moistened.
Step 4 –Grease the bottom and the sides of a 4-5-quart slow cooker.
Step 5 –Spoon the batter into the bottom of the slow cooker and spread it out evenly.
Step 6 –Place the diced apples evenly over the batter.
Step 7 –In a medium-size bowl, add the orange juice, the honey, the remaining melted butter, the remaining sugar, and the cinnamon and whisk to combine.
Step 8 –Pour the sauce mixture over the apples.
Step 9 –Place a clean kitchen towel over the opening of the slow cooker, which will keep condensation from the lid from going into the slow cooker.
Step 10 –Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high until the apples are tender, about 2-3 hours.
Step 11 –Serve warm.
