Ingredients
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 (32 ounce) jar dill pickle chips, 40 pickles finely chopped, 16 whole, divided
- 1/3 cup yellow mustard
- 6 strips bacon, chopped
- 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 (8-ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 5 slices American cheese, halved
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 –In a bowl, combine the ketchup, the mayonnaise, 40 of the chopped pickles, and the mustard.
Step 3 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Step 4 –Drain all by 1 tablespoon of the grease, keeping the reserved grease in the skillet.
Step 5 –Add the onions to the skillet and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 6 –Add the ground beef, the salt, and the pepper to the skillet.
Step 7 –Thoroughly cook the beef until no pink remains, about 5-6 minutes.
Step 8 –Transfer the meat to a bowl and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
Step 9 –Add 3/4 cup of the ketchup sauce to the meat and stir.
Step 10 –Spray the back of a baking sheet generously with cooking spray.
Step 11 –Open the cans of the crescent dough, and separate them into the perforated 16 triangles.
Step 12 –Place a 5-inch bowl in the center of the prepared baking sheet.
Step 13 –Arrange the triangles in a ring around the bowl. The points of the dough triangles should be towed the outer edge away from the bowl in the center, overlapping slightly. It should look like a big sun.
Step 14 –Once arranged, spoon the beef mixture over the ends of the triangles nearest the bowl.
Step 15 –Cover the beef with the cheese.
Step 16 –Top the cheese with the remaining whole pickles.
Step 17 –Remove the bowl.
Step 18 –Fold the pointed end of one of the triangles over the filling, tucking the tip neatly under the edge of the dough. It will not fully cover the filling, but should cover the pickle layer.
Step 19 –Repeat with the remaining crescent dough triangles.
Step 20 –Bake the ring until the dough is golden-brown and the cheese is melted, about 25 minutes.
Step 21 –Transfer the ring from the oven and brush it with the butter. Immediately top it with the sesame seeds.
Step 22 –Allow the ring to cool for 10-15 minutes.
Step 23 –Serve with the remaining ketchup sauce.
