Baked BBQ Chicken has a very clear goal: infuse the most amount of barbeque flavor into each and every piece of chicken. As you can taste for yourself, it wildly succeeds! The fatty and deeply savory chicken is made all the more delectable from being marinated and basted with BBQ sauce as it bakes. It’s even broiled with extra BBQ sauce for a caramelized coating! Baked BBQ Chicken tastes even better than chicken from the grill, so you can have “cookouts” at any time of year!

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken thighs, bone-in, skin-on
  • 3/4 cup BBQ sauce, divided

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

Step 3 –Place the chicken in a bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of the BBQ sauce over the chicken and mix to combine. Let sit or marinate in the fridge for up to 4 hours.

Step 4 –Place the chicken on the prepared baking sheet skin side down. Reserve the BBQ sauce in the bowl.

Step 5 –Bake the chicken for 25 minutes.

Step 6 –Flip the chicken and baste with the reserved BBQ sauce from the marinating bowl.

Step 7 –Return the chicken to the oven and bake for 25 minutes.

Step 8 –Set the oven to broil.

Step 9 –Baste the tops of the chicken with the remaining 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce.

Step 10 –Broil until the top is dark and caramelized, about 3-5 minutes. Make sure to remove the chicken from the oven quickly to make sure it doesn’t become too dark.

Step 11 –Check using a meat thermometer that the chicken has reached 165 degrees F internally.

Step 12 –Serve.
