Baked Honey Panko Chicken is the high-class, extra fancy chicken fingers you’ve always wanted, but never knew how to ask for! Each cutlet is coated in a blend of smoky, savory spices, and crunchy panko breadcrumbs before being baked until golden-brown, crispy, and juicy on the inside. Of course, Baked Honey Panko Chicken also provides a dipping sauce in the form of a homemade spicy honey. Come feed your inner child!
Ingredients
For the breading:
- 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
For the chicken:
- 2 pounds chicken breast cutlets
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
For the honey dip:
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2 –In a bowl, add the panko, the paprika, the garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, and the onion powder.
Step 3 –Pour the melted butter over the seasoned crumb mixture and mix until combined. Set the breading mixture aside.
Step 4 –Season each side of the chicken with the extra salt and the pepper.
Step 5 –Lay the chicken flat on a large baking sheet and spread a very thin coat of the mayonnaise over each chicken cutlet.
Step 6 –Place each chicken cutlet into the breading mixture, flipping as needed to coat all sides, then return the breaded cutlets to the baking sheet.
Step 7 –Spoon any remaining breading over the top of each chicken breast and pat to secure the breading to the chicken.
Step 8 –Bake until the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, about 10-15 minutes.
Step 9 –In a bowl, add the honey and the red pepper flakes and mix to combine.
Step 10 –Drizzle the honey sauce over the baked chicken or serve as a dipping sauce.
Step 11 –Serve.
