Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

Step 2 –Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.

Step 3 –Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4 –Stir in the buttermilk.

Step 5 –Knead the dough gently.

Step 6 –Roll the dough out to 1 1/2-inch thickness.

Step 7 –Cut the rolled dough with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

Step 8 –Place the dough rounds on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Step 9 –Bake until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 10 –Serve.
