Barstool Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 6 pork chops, boneless and thinly cut
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon all-purpose seasoning blend
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle lager beer
  • 1/8 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf

Directions

Step 1 –Season both sides of the pork chops with the salt, the pepper, and the all-purpose seasoning.

Step 2 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the oil and heat until it is shimmering.

Step 3 –Add the seasoned pork chops to the hot oil and sear until they are browned, about 3 minutes. It is okay for them to not be cooked through.

Step 4 –Transfer the pork chops to a plate.

Step 5 –In the same skillet, add the onions and the garlic and sauté until the onions are softened and translucent.

Step 6 –Add the flour to the onion-garlic mixture and stir for 1 minute.

Step 7 –Stir the beer, the brown sugar, the ketchup, the thyme, and the bay leaf into the onion mixture.

Step 8 –Add the pork chops to the sauce and simmer, flipping once, until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, about 10 minutes.

Step 9 –Serve the pork chops topped with the sauce.
