Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow or rotini pasta
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, lean
  • 1 (28 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1 –Using a large pot filled with boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to the package directions. Make sure to stir every once in a while.

Step 2 –Drain the pasta and set it aside.

Step 3 –In a mixing bowl, add together the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Set it aside.

Step 4 –In a 3 quart oven-safe pot, heat up the olive oil over medium heat on the stovetop.

Step 5 –Add in the onion and garlic, cooking for about 4 minutes and stirring constantly to prevent the garlic from burning.

Step 6 –Increase the heat to a medium-high.

Step 7 –Add in the ground beef and cook until you can see that the beef is well browned and juicy, about 7 minutes.

Step 8 –Scrape the beef into a colander to drain off the excess grease.
