Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon, cut into 2-inch segments
- 1 sweet onion, diced
- 4 (15-ounce) cans pork and beans in tomato sauce, 1 can drained, 3 cans undrained
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- 1/2 cup unsulphured molasses
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 3 –In a cold, nonstick skillet over medium heat, add the bacon and cook until some of the fat has rendered but the bacon is not fully cooked, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Step 4 –Transfer the bacon to a plate, reserving the drippings in the pan.
Step 5 –Add the onions to the hot bacon drippings and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 6 –Add the cooked onions, the pork and beans, the Worcestershire sauce, the brown sugar, the mustard powder, and the molasses to the prepared baking dish and stir until combined.
Step 7 –Arrange the bacon pieces over the bean mixture.
Step 8 –Bake, uncovered, until the sauce is bubbly and the bacon is crisp, about 45 minutes.
Step 9 –Serve.
