This chicken is exquisitely seasoned and full of flavors like cayenne pepper, cumin, and thyme. Blackened Chicken is delicious any time of year, and it pairs magnificently with your favorite side dish.
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 chicken breast halves, skinless and boneless
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Gently grease a baking tray.
Step 3 –Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat for about 5 minutes until it is smoking.
Step 4 –Add the paprika, salt, cayenne, cumin, thyme, white pepper, and onion powder together.
Step 5 –Oil the chicken breasts with a cooking spray on each side.
Step 6 –Coat the chicken breasts evenly with the seasoning mixture.
Step 7 –Place chicken breasts into the hot pan, browning it on one side for 1 minute.
Step 8 –Turn the chicken and cook for 1 minute on the other side. This browning technique gives Blackened Chicken its name.
Step 9 –Place the breasts onto the previously prepared baking tray.
Step 10 –Bake the chicken into the oven until it is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 5 minutes.
Step 11 –Serve hot.
