A chill is in the air and it’s time for some baking! Hooray! Snuggle up with some Bog Bars to warm you through, heart and soul, and let the winter blues melt away! With a floating oatmeal crust, a sweet and tart cranberry sauce filling, and a pecan crumble topping, these are the season’s favorite bars! When Bog Bars are toasting in the oven, you’ll find yourself relaxing as you look forward to a cozy bite of tangy-sweet goodness. Mmm, baking in the winter has never felt so idyllic!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups butter, softened, divided
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed, divided
  • 3 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (14-ounce) can whole-berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a large bowl of an electric stand or in a large mixing bowl using a hand mixer, add 1 cup of the softened butter and 1 cup of the brown sugar and cream them together until light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 4 –In a medium bowl, add 2 1/2 cups of the oats and the flour and stir to combine.

Step 5 –Gradually add the oat mixture to the butter mixture and mix until crumbly.

Step 6 –Evenly press the crumbly mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 7 –Evenly spread the cranberry sauce over the oat mixture layer.

Step 8 –In a medium microwave-safe dish with the microwave on high heat, melt the remaining butter.

Step 9 –Add the pecans, the remaining brown sugar, and the remaining oats to the melted butter and stir to combine.

Step 10 –Evenly sprinkle the pecan mixture over the cranberry sauce layer.

Step 11 –Bake until lightly-brown, about 25-30 minutes.

Step 12 –Transfer the baked bars from the oven to a wire rack and let them cool.

Step 13 –With a serrated knife, cut the baked bars into serving-sized pieces and serve.
