Ingredients

  • 12 strips bacon
  • 1 (12-ounce) roll puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam or red pepper jelly
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water
  • 1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 3 –Spread the bacon strips onto one of the prepared baking sheets and bake until they are crispy, about 15 minutes.

Step 4 –Drain the bacon strips on a wire rack until they are cool.

Step 5 –Increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees F.

Step 6 –Roll the puff pastry onto the remaining prepared baking sheet.

Step 7 –Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the pastry into 12 rectangles.

Step 8 –Spread the cream cheese onto the rectangular pastries and then top each with 1 teaspoon of the jam.

Step 9 –Place 1 strip of the bacon diagonally across each of the rectangular pastries.

Step 10 –Generously sprinkle the rectangular pastries with the shredded cheese.

Step 11 –Take one corner of the rectangular pastry and fold it to the middle of the rectangle. Fold the opposite corner of the pastry down to overlap in the middle. Press the pastry together tightly to seal.
