These Butter Cookies are in the classic Danish style and will melt in your mouth! With a rich, buttery texture and a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness, these delightful sweet treats can be whipped up in less than an hour. Butter Cookies make great gifts, too, but after tasting just one you may want to keep them to yourself! !
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus more for sprinkling
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Prepare two cookie sheets by lining them with parchment paper or baking mats.
Step 3 –In the bowl of a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Step 4 –Add the salt, vanilla, and egg, beating until well-combined.
Step 5 –Reduce the speed and slowly add the flour until just combined.
Step 6 –Using a rubber spatula, add the dough to a decorating bag fitted with a star attachment.
Step 7 –Pipe the dough into circles on the lined cookie sheets.
Step 8 –Top with the granulated sugar.
Step 9 –Bake, one pan at a time, until lightly golden, about 15-17 minutes.
Step 10 –Cool the cookies on a wire rack.
Step 11 –Serve once cooled.
