Cheddar Chive Biscuits are the easiest biscuits you will ever make…and perhaps the most delicious! You don’t have to wait for the dough to rise and you don’t even have to cut these into biscuits. Simply plop the cheesy, herby dough onto the baking sheet and soon you’ll have Cheddar Chive Biscuits—the perfect side to any meal!

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, scoop and level to measure
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold, diced into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 cup buttermilk


Step 1 –Set the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to avoid sticking.

Step 3 –In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer, combine all the dry ingredients.

Step 4 –Cut the butter into the mixture using a pastry tool or a fork. At this point, you should have a meal-like texture.

Step 5 –Toss the cheese and chives into the mixture.

Step 6 –Add the buttermilk, continuing to toss until you have a dough. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add additional buttermilk.

Step 7 –Using a large spoon or a 1/4 cup measuring spoon, place a heaping scoop of dough onto your baking sheet. Repeat until you have 12 biscuits.

Step 8 –Bake 13-15 minutes.

Step 9 –Serve and enjoy!
