Ingredients
- 1 (18.5 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 2 cups chocolate chips, divided
- 1 tablespoon shortening
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
Step 2 –In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, brown sugar, melted butter, and water.
Step 3 –Beat the mixture on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Step 4 –Stir in the nuts and 1 cup of the chocolate chips.
Step 5 –Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Step 6 –Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out relatively clean, with no batter clinging to it, about 20-25 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool.
Step 7 –In a microsafe bowl or in a double boiler, melt the shortening with the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips.
Step 8 –Drizzle the melted chocolate sauce over the top of the cake.
Step 9 –Cut the cake into bars and seve.
