Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1 –In a small microwave-safe bowl or a measuring cup, add the butter and the milk and heat in the microwave until the butter has melted, about 1 minute 30 seconds.

Step 2 –Whisk the vanilla into the butter mixture.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, add the eggs and use an electric mixer to beat them until fluffy.

Step 4 –Add the butter mixture to the eggs and stir to combine.

Step 5 –Add the flour, the baking powder, the salt, and the sugar to the egg mixture and mix until just combined.

Step 6 –Let the waffle batter sit for 5 minutes.

Step 7 –While the batter is resting, preheat the waffle iron.

Step 8 –Fold the chocolate chips into the batter.

Step 9 –Pour the batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook according to the waffle maker’s directions.
