Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (16-ounce) package mini marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cake mix with candy bits
  • 5 cups crispy rice cereal, divided
  • 2 cups fruit-flavored breakfast cereal, divided
  • sea salt, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Line a 9×13-inch cake pan with parchment paper.

Step 2 –Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-low heat, cooking and stirring until the butter is golden-brown and smells nutty, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 3 –Stir the marshmallows into the brown butter and cook until melted, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4 –Add the bourbon and 1 teaspoon of the salt and stir until incorporated.

Step 5 –Mix the cake mix into the marshmallow mixture until dissolved.

Step 6 –Transfer the pot from the heat.

Step 7 –Mix 1/2 of the rice cereal and 1/2 of the fruit-flavored cereal into the marshmallow mixture until evenly coated.

Step 8 –Mix the remaining rice cereal and the remaining fruit-flavored cereal into the marshmallow-cereal mixture.

Step 9 –Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 10 –Sprinkle the sea salt on top.

Step 11 –Slice and serve.
