Copycat Wendy’s® Baconator®

Ingredients

  • 8 strips bacon
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 2 hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Optional toppings:

  • lettuce, to taste, chopped
  • tomato, to taste, chopped
  • onions, to taste chopped,
  • pickles, to taste, chopped
  • mustard, to taste

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Cook the bacon on a sheet tray for 10 minutes.

Step 2 -Form 4 equal patties from the ground beef.

Step 3 -Season both sides of the patties with the garlic powder, the salt, and the pepper.

Step 4 -Over high heat in a skillet, cook the patties on both sides until cooked to desired doneness, starting at 135 degrees F for medium-rare, about 2 minutes per side.

Step 5 -Before removing from the pan, add one slice of the cheese to each of the patties.

Step 6 -Build each burger by placing 1 patty on the bottom of one of the buns.

Step 7 -Add 2 pieces of the bacon to the burger.

Step 8 -Place another patty on top of the bacon layer, followed by another layer of the bacon.

Step 9 -Add a tablespoon of the ketchup and the mayonnaise, along with any other desired toppings, to the burger.

Step 10 -Repeat with the second burger.

Step 11 -Serve.
