Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar, optional, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Whisk together the flour, the salt, and the baking powder in a medium bowl.

Step 2 –Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or an electric hand mixer, cream the butter and the cream cheese together.

Step 3 –Add the sugar to the creamed butter mixture and beat until light and fluffy.

Step 4 –Add the egg and the vanilla to the butter mixture and mix until combined.

Step 5 –Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix one more time.

Step 6 –Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix on low speed until just combined.

Step 7 –Using a spatula, give the mixture one last mix.

Step 8 –Cover and chill the dough for at least 1 hour.

Step 9 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 10 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 11 –Dampen your hands slightly, as the dough will be sticky.

Step 12 –Portion the dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls.

Step 13 –Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Step 14 –Bake until the edges are set and just turn golden, about 10 minutes.

Step 15 –Serve garnished with the powdered sugar.
