Everyone’s always talking about a chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookie. And sure, we love those, too. But have you ever tried Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies?! We think they’re the most slept-on version of this chocolatey classic there is! The name says it all! These sweet discs are satisfyingly crispy, and sprinkled with just a touch of sea salt for that ultimate sweet-and-salty combination. They’re oh-so-good on their own, but we also think they’d be quite delightful sprinkled over a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Don’t you?! Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies are the best new way to think about your favorite classic cookie!
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, leveled
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 ounces 85% cocoa dark chocolate bar, chopped
- flaky sea salt, to taste
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3 –In a medium bowl, combine the flour, the baking soda, and the kosher salt.
Step 4 –In a large mixing bowl, whisk the butter, the sugar, and the maple syrup together.
Step 5 –Add the milk, the egg yolk, and the vanilla extract to the butter mixture.
Step 6 –Using a rubber spatula, fold the flour mixture into the butter mixture.
Step 7 –Add the chopped chocolate to the cookie dough and fold to combine.
Step 8 –Using a large, 3-tablespoon cookie scoop, drop three scoops of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart as they spread out quite a bit. You’ll only be able to bake about 3 cookies at a time.
Step 9 –Bake the cookies until the edges are golden-brown and the centers look a bit lighter than the outsides, about 12-15 minutes.
Step 10 –Repeat the baking process until all the cookie dough has been used.
Step 11 –Sprinkle the cookies with the flaky sea salt, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 12 –Serve.
