Dad’s Cabbage Coleslaw

It’s just like how he used to make it: the cabbage and carrots are sweet and crunchy, and the dressing is tangy and zesty. Dad’s Cabbage Coleslaw can be made in a hurry and with minimal effort, so you never need to worry about showing up to the cookout empty-handed!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 large red onion, diced
  • 1 cup carrots, grated
  • 2 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • black pepper, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, onion, carrots, and celery.

Step 2 –Sprinkle the vegetables with the white sugar, mixing well.

Step 3 –In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, oil, salt, dry mustard, the pepper.

Step 4 –Bring the vinegar mixture to a boil.

Step 5 –Pour the hot dressing over the cabbage mixture, mixing well.

Step 6 –Serve.
