Fallin’ For Your Pancakes

Now this is how you start off Valentine’s Day on the most romantic note! Fallin’ For Your Pancakes are just as delightfully tender and golden as classic diner-style pancakes. The difference is that these are loaded with crisp, tart apple and warm cinnamon for an almost apple pie-like flavor! Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups milk or buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Granny Smith apple, shredded
  • maple syrup, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, the baking soda, and the salt.

Step 2 –Add the milk, the eggs, the applesauce, and the cinnamon to the flour mixture and whisk until just until combined.

Step 3 –Add the shredded apple to the batter mixture and stir to combine.

Step 4 –Preheat a flat griddle over medium-high heat.

Step 5 –Scoop 1/4 cup of the pancake batter onto the griddle, making sure not to overcrowd the griddle, and cook until the pancakes start to form bubbles at the edges, about 3 minutes.

Step 6 –Flip the pancakes and cook until golden-brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7 –Transfer the cooked pancakes to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter.

Step 8 –Serve topped with the syrup.
