Ingredients
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons red chili flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 (28-ounce) can diced or crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- pasta, such as spaghetti, to taste, cooked and warm, for serving

Directions
Step 1 –In a large, shallow pan over medium heat, add the olive oil, the onion, the chili flakes, and the salt and cook until the onion begins to brown, about 5 minutes.
Step 2 –Add the garlic to the onion mixture and cook, about 1 minute.
Step 3 –Add the tomatoes and their juices, the water, and the oregano to the onion mixture.
Step 4 –Increase the heat to medium-high and simmer the sauce until most of the liquid has evaporated and the sauce has thickened, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 5 –Serve the sauce over the pasta.
