This isn’t just a chocolate-flavored drink, this is pure drinking chocolate, almost like a ganache at its creamiest, thickest, and richest. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder, optional
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, at least 70%, chopped
- whipped cream, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 –In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk the whole milk, the heavy cream, the powdered sugar, and the espresso powder until small bubbles appear around the edges. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
Step 2 –Transfer the saucepan away from the heat and stir in the chopped chocolate until melted. If needed, the mixture can be returned to low heat to help melt the chocolate.
Step 3 –Divide the hot chocolate between 2 mugs and serve warm with the whipped cream.
