Ingredients

  • vegetable or peanut oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 16 ounces dill pickle slices, drained and dried on paper towels

Directions

Step 1 –Heat about 2 inches of oil in a pot over medium-high heat until temperature reaches 375 degrees F. Continue monitoring the oil temperature as you fry the pickles to ensure perfect crispness.

Step 2 –In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Step 3 –Add the hot sauce and water and combine until you have a smooth texture.

Step 4 –Create an assembly line, adding the dry pickles to the batter, tossing to coat well.

Step 5 –Use a fork to remove the pickles and allow the extra batter to drip off.

Step 6 –Very carefully, add the battered pickles to the hot oil, one by one. Fry until they turn golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7 –Remove them, and allow them to dry on a metal rack over paper towels or directly on the paper towels.

Step 8 –Serve and enjoy!
