Ingredients
- water, for steaming the potatoes
- 1 pound baby potatoes, halved
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2 –Place a large, rimmed baking sheet in the oven to preheat.
Step 3 –Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a large saucepan fitted with a steamer basket.
Step 4 –Add the potatoes to the steamer basket, then cover and steam until just tender, about 12-14 minutes.
Step 5 –Combine 1 1/2 tablespoons of the oil, the garlic, the rosemary, the salt, and the pepper in a small bowl.
Step 6 –Brush the hot baking sheet with the remaining oil.
Step 7 –Place the steamed potatoes on the hot sheet, skin-side up, and smash them with the bottom of a jar or the smooth side of a meat mallet.
Step 8 –Drizzle the potatoes with the garlic oil.
Step 9 –Roast the potatoes until browned on the bottom, about 15 minutes.
