Perfect for chili-eating nights, big ol’ Southern feasts, or any meal in between, Grandma’s Homestyle Cornbread is where it’s at when you have a craving for a good, down-home bite!

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup frozen corn

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –In an 8-inch square baking pan, add the butter. Place it in the oven just until it melts.

Step 3 –In a bowl, add the flour, the cornmeal, the sugar, the baking powder, and the salt and stir to combine.

Step 4 –Stir the egg and the milk into the cornmeal mixture until they are just combined.

Step 5 –Stir the frozen corn into the batter.

Step 6 –Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and evenly spread it out.

Step 7 –Bake the cornbread until it is golden, about 30 minutes.

Step 8 –Slice and serve.
