Hibachi-Style Fried Rice

Sure, you could go to a hibachi restaurant and pay through the nose, or you can enjoy Hibachi-Style Fried Rice from home. Making it yourself is actually fairly easy and only requires 35 minutes, so you can actually enjoy it whenever you want it! The rice is golden brown, beautifully seasoned, and chock full of fresh vegetables, exactly the kind of side dish you want to be paired with teriyaki or sesame chicken. Hibachi-Style Fried Rice is no longer just for special occasions, although it will feel special every time you eat it!

Ingredients

For the rice:

  • 2 cups white long-grain rice
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened.
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup carrots, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup peas
  • 1/2 cup white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions

Step 1 –Cook the rice following the package directions.

Step 2 –Set the rice aside to cool.

Step 3 –Stir the soy sauce and garlic powder into the butter. Set the mixture aside.

Step 4 –Using a large skillet or a wok, heat the oil.

Step 5 –Add in the carrots, peas, and onion and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 6 –Add in the rice and the butter mixture, and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes.

Step 7 –Add the egg.

Step 8 –Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring every once in a while.

Step 9 –Remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 10 –Serve.
