Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- waffles, optional, to taste, cooked and warm, for serving, can substitute pancakes or French toast
Directions
Step 1 –In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, add the butter, the sugar, and the buttermilk and heat, while stirring occasionally, until the butter is melted. Be careful, as the mixture can boil up fast.
Step 2 –Bring the butter mixture to a boil and boil for 1 minute.
Step 3 –Transfer the saucepan from the heat.
Step 4 –Add the vanilla and the baking soda to the butter mixture and whisk to combine. The mixture will foam, that’s normal.
