Hunters’ Chicken sees typical barbeque chicken and ups the ante. It’s not going to let chicken get away with being typical: it’s going to zhush it up with style! So, each chicken breast is sprinkled with an herbaceous and warming spice blend before being wrapped in succulent bacon, smothered in tangy barbeque sauce, and smothered with melty cheese. Chicken has never tasted so savory or satisfying. You’ll be on the hunt to make more Hunters’ Chicken as many times as you can!
Ingredients
For the chicken seasoning:
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
For the chicken:
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 12 slices bacon, preferably streaky
- 1 cup barbeque sauce
- 1 cup cheese, of your choice, plus more as needed to cover the chicken, grated
- fresh chives, optional, finely diced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 –In a small bowl, combine the paprika, the garlic powder, the salt, the black pepper, and the cayenne pepper.
Step 3 –Evenly sprinkle the chicken breasts with the chicken seasoning on all sides.
Step 4 –Wrap each breast of the chicken with 3 slices of the bacon.
Step 5 –Place the bacon-wrapped chicken into a large cast iron skillet or baking dish.
Step 6 –Bake until the chicken is piping hot and cooked through at 165 degrees F, about 35 minutes.
Step 7 –Turn the oven to broil.
Step 8 –Generously spoon the barbeque sauce over the chicken, then cover the chicken with the cheese.
Step 9 –Broil until the cheese melts, about 5 minutes.
Step 10 –Garnish with the chives and serve.
