We have to admit, when Mae first shared her idea for this salad, we had trouble believing it could work. Broccoli and grapes? Really? Yet, upon trying Mae’s Broccoli & Grape Salad, we now have to admit we were wrong to be so hesitant… this salad is to die for! The garden-fresh broccoli provides a nice backdrop and support for the juicy grapes and the succulent bits of bacon mixed in! Almonds and celery add a refreshing crunch, and the creamy and tangy dressing just heightens the whole thing. Credit where credit is due, Mae’s Broccoli & Grape Salad changed our minds on what a great salad could be, and it will change yours too!
Ingredients
- 10 cups broccoli florets
- 6 cups seedless red grapes
- 1 cup celery, sliced
- 6 green onions, sliced
- 2 cups mayonnaise
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 1 pound sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 1/3 cups slivered almonds, toasted
Directions
Step 1 –In a large salad bowl, combine the broccoli, the grapes, the celery, and the onions.
Step 2 –In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, the sugar, and the vinegar.
Step 3 –Pour the mayo mixture over the veggie mixture and toss to coat.
Step 4 –Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.
Step 5 –Gently stir the bacon and the almonds into the salad.
Step 6 –Serve.
