Let peace surround you even in the midst of the craziest chaos as you sink your teeth into this lovely cinnamon-swirled bread, drizzled with a sweet and creamy vanilla glaze. Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup sour cream, room temperature
- 2/3 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- vanilla icing, to taste, store-bought or homemade
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray.
Step 3 –In a bowl, add 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar and the ground cinnamon and mix to combine.
Step 4 –In a large bowl, add the flour, the baking soda, and the salt and stir to combine.
Step 5 –In a medium bowl, add the egg and the remaining granulated sugar and whisk until combined.
Step 6 –Whisk the oil, the sour cream, the milk, and the vanilla extract into the egg mixture.
Step 7 –Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture and whisk to completely combine. Be sure to not overmix.
Step 8 –Spread about 1/2 of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Step 9 –Sprinkle 3/4 of the cinnamon-sugar over the batter, reserving about 2 tablespoons for topping.
Step 10 –Carefully pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
Step 11 –Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar over the batter and use a knife to make a large swirl down the loaf. Avoid over-swirling.
Step 12 –Bake the bread, about 25 minutes.
Step 13 –Loosely cover the bread with foil and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25-35 minutes.
Step 14 –Transfer the loaf pan to a wire rack and let the bread cool, about 1 hour.
Step 15 –Invert the bread onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.
Step 16 –Drizzle the bread with the vanilla icing.
Step 17 –Slice and serve.
