Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 6 ounces mushrooms, optional, sliced
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- parsley, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 –In a large nonstick skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Step 2 –Add the onions and the mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms are soft and the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
Step 3 –Transfer the onion-mushroom mixture to a plate.
Step 4 –In the same skillet, add the beef and cook, while crumbling, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 5 –Drain the grease from the skillet.
Step 6 –Sprinkle the flour over the beef and cook until the raw flour smell disappears, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 7 –Pour in the beef broth and cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 8 –Add the onion-mushroom mixture back into the skillet.
Step 9 –Gently stir in the sour cream.
Step 10 –Season with the salt and the pepper.
Step 11 –Let the mixture simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes.
Step 12 –Serve garnished with the parsley.
