Ingredients

For the dip:

  • 1 (15-ounce) container whole milk ricotta
  • 1 (8-ounce) package mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • cinnamon, to taste
  • nutmeg, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

For the optional dippers:

  • cannoli chips, to taste
  • waffle cookie crisps, to taste
  • waffle cones, to taste, broken into small pieces
  • graham crackers, to taste
  • fruit, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Place a fine mesh sieve over a bowl and top with a coffee filter or paper towels.

Step 2 –Place the ricotta on the coffee filter, topped with a heavy item, such as a jar of oil, and allow the ricotta to drain at room temperature until it is able to hold its shape, about 1 hour.

Step 3 –In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add the ricotta and the mascarpone and beat on medium-high speed until it is smooth and has thickened, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 4 –Reduce the speed and beat the vanilla extract, the almond extract, the cinnamon, and the nutmeg into the ricotta mixture.
