Layers of fresh greens, tangy mayo dressing, savory bacon, and sharp cheese all come together to make an enticing side… then it chills in the fridge to ensure the dressing acquires a whole new depth of flavor and tenderness unseen in other salads! Ingredients
- 8 cups mixed salad greens, torn
- 1 1/2 cups celery, chopped
- 2 medium green peppers, chopped
- 1 medium red onion, chopped
- 2 1/2 cups frozen peas, thawed
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 pound bacon strips, cooked, crumbled
Directions
Step 1 –In a 3-quart bowl or a 9×13-inch dish, layer the salad greens, the celery, the green pepper, the onion, and the peas (in that order).
Step 2 –In a bowl, add the mayo, the sour cream, and the sugar and whisk to combine.
Step 3 –Spread the mayo mixture over the top of the salad layers in the dish.
Step 4 –Sprinkle the top of the mayo mixture with the cheese and the bacon.
Step 5 –Cover and refrigerate the salad overnight, about 12 hours.
Step 6 –Serve.
