Preacher’s Favorite Beef Bake

Quick! Quick! The preacher is coming over for dinner! Better make their favorite dish! Preacher’s Favorite Beef Bake is a beefy, savory, spicy, mix of ground beef, rich tomatoes, herbs, warm spices, and buttery egg noodles. And of course, it wouldn’t be anyone’s favorite without plenty of cheese. So, for the honored guest, Preacher’s Favorite Beef Bake features four different cheeses for marvelous melty magic! This is sure to impress!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano
  • 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cups medium egg noodles
  • 5 green onions, chopped
  • 1 (8-ounce) container sour cream
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • fresh herbs, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a large skillet over medium heat, add the beef and cook, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-8 minutes.

Step 4 –Drain the fat from the skillet.

Step 5 –Add the can of diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano and their juices, the can of diced tomatoes with green chilies and their juices, the tomato paste, the salt, the Italian seasoning, and the pepper and stir to combine.

Step 6 –Bring the meat sauce mixture to a boil.

Step 7 –Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.

Step 8 –Transfer the skillet from the heat.

Step 9 –In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the egg noodles to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the noodles well.

Step 10 –In a bowl, add the egg noodles, the green onions, the sour cream, and the cream cheese and stir until blended.

Step 11 –Spoon the egg noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 12 –Top the egg noodle mixture with the meat sauce mixture.

Step 13 –Sprinkle the noodle mixture with the cheddar, the parmesan, and the mozzarella evenly and in that order.

Step 14 –Cover and bake for 35 minutes.

Step 15 –Uncover and bake until the cheese is melty and lightly golden, about 5 minutes.

Step 16 –Let the casserole stand for 10-15 minutes.

Step 17 –Serve garnished with the chopped fresh herbs.
