In under 30 minutes, you could be chowing down on a big, ‘ole fluffy hoagie roll filled with savory, slightly crunchy peppers, onions, and mushrooms, and pieces of juicy, tender flank steak! Oh, and it’s all covered in melty provolone cheese, too! What’s the name of this delicious game, you might be wondering? Sheet-Pan Cheesesteak! Not only is this meal not a time sucker, but it’s not a dish hog, either. All these yummy flavors and textures are created in ONE sheet pan. Wow. What a time to be alive. Sheet-Pan Cheesesteak is a must-make, no doubt!
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 pounds flank steak
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, divided
- 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
- 1 cup yellow onion, chopped
- 1 cup green pepper, sliced
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Place the steak on a baking sheet and season with the salt and the pepper.
Step 3 –Pour 1 tablespoon of the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of the Worcestershire sauce over the top of the steak and rub them in.
Step 4 –In a bowl, add the mushrooms, the onion, the green peppers, the remaining olive oil, the remaining Worcestershire sauce, the salt, and the pepper and stir to combine.
Step 5 –Pour the veggie mixture onto the tray around the sides of the steak.
Step 6 –Bake for 15 minutes.
Step 7 –Adjust the oven to broil.
Step 8 –Broil the steak mixture for 3-5 minutes, ensuring nothing burns.
Step 9 –Carefully transfer the steak from the baking sheet and cut it into very thin, bite-size pieces, working against the grain as much as possible. Place the sliced steak back onto the baking sheet.
Step 10 –Cover the steak and veggies with the provolone cheese.
Step 11 –Return the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 12 –Bake until the steak reaches an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees F and the cheese has melted, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 13 –Carefully stir the mixture to thoroughly combine the melted cheese into the meat and veggie mixture.
Step 14 –Evenly top each of the hoagie rolls with the cheesesteak mixture.
Step 15 –Serve.
