This sweet, jammy, cinnamon-infused side dish is amazing as a snack, as a topping to pork chops or as an ingredient in cookies. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds golden delicious apples, medium-sized, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/2-inch thick
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- ground nutmeg, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 –Spread the apple slices in a 3-quart or larger slow cooker.
Step 2 –Sprinkle it with the sugar.
Step 3 –Insert the cinnamon stick down between the apples.
Step 4 –Drizzle with the lemon juice.
Step 5 –Cover and cook on low until the apples form a thick sauce, about 6 hours 30 minutes-8 hours.
Step 6 –Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.
Step 7 –Sprinkle with the nutmeg.
Step 8 –Serve warm or at room temperature.
