Its savory chicken is coated in the same sweet and tangy citrus glaze that gets everyone excited. Slow Cooker Orange Chicken satisfies cravings with its beautiful balance of flavors and its surprising simplicity.

Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 1 1/4 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced

Optional, for serving:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
  • rice, to taste, cooked and warm

Directions

Step 1 –In a medium bowl, add the chicken, the cornstarch, the salt, and the pepper.

Step 2 –Toss to combine and evenly coat the chicken.

Step 3 –In a large pan over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil.

Step 4 –Once the oil is hot, add the chicken in a single layer in the pan and cook until each side is browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. If you do not have enough space in the pan, cook the chicken in batches.

Step 5 –Grease the pot of a slow cooker.

Step 6 –Add the chicken to the slow cooker.

Step 7 –In a small bowl, whisk together the orange marmalade, the rice vinegar, the soy sauce, the sesame oil, and the garlic.

Step 8 –Pour the sauce over the chicken and gently stir to coat evenly.

Step 9 –Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 2-3 hours.

Step 10 –Top with the sesame seeds and the green onions, and serve over the rice!
