Ingredients

  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, 1 1/2-inches-thick
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

Directions

Step 1 –Season the salmon with salt and pepper.

Step 2 –In a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, warm the oil until it is hot and shimmering, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 3 –Cook the fillets, without moving, skin side up, until they are golden and crisp, about 4 minutes.

Step 4 –Carefully flip the fillets and reduce the heat to medium.

Step 5 –Continue cooking the fillets until they have reached your preferred doneness and have reached a minimum temperature of 145 degrees F internally, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 6 –Transfer the fillets to a platter.

Step 7 –Serve.
