  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 1/2 pounds cabbage, chopped
  • 1 (29-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup white rice, uncooked
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 (14-ounce) cans beef broth


Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, while crumbling into small pieces, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Step 4 –Combine the cabbage, the tomato sauce, the chopped onion, the uncooked rice, and the salt in a large mixing bowl.

Step 5 –Stir the cooked ground beef into the cabbage mixture.

Step 6 –Pour the casserole mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 7 –Pour the beef broth over the casserole mixture.

Step 8 –Bake the casserole, covered, for 1 hour.

Step 9 –Carefully stir the casserole, re-cover, and bake until the cabbage is tender and the rice is done, about 20-30 additional minutes.
