Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley, plus more to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon dried garlic powder, plus more to taste
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
For the sauce:
- 1 cup barbecue sauce, of your choice
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2 –In a large bowl, mix the beef, egg, mustard, onion, bread crumbs, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper using your hands or a hand mixer with the dough hook attachment.
Step 3 –Shape the mixed meat mixture into teaspoon-sized balls, ensuring to firmly shape them to avoid them disintegrating in the sauce.
Step 4 –Place the meatballs on a baking sheet.
Step 5 –Bake the meatballs until cooked through and an instant thermometer inserted into the center reads 160 degrees F, about 10-12 minutes.
Step 6 –In a 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix together the barbecue sauce, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
