Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, add the flour, the baking powder, the salt, 2 teaspoons of the ground cinnamon, the ground nutmeg, and the ground cloves and whisk to combine.

Step 4 –In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the flat beater attachment, add the butter and 1 2/3 cups of the sugar and mix until it is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 5 –Add the eggs to the sugar mixture and mix well.

Step 6 –Add the vanilla and the yogurt to the sugar mixture and mix until it is fully incorporated.

Step 7 –Gradually add the flour mixture to the batter and fold it in with a rubber spatula until it is just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 8 –Gently stir the cinnamon chips into the batter.

Step 9 –In a small bowl, add the remaining sugar and the remaining cinnamon and stir to combine.

Step 10 –Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, leaving 1 inch of room at the top. There will likely be some of the batter leftover; use it to make muffins (bake about 20 minutes) or a couple mini loaves (adjusting the baking time, as needed).

Step 11 –Evenly sprinkle the top of the batter with the cinnamon sugar and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few tender crumbs attached, about 1 hour-1 hour 10 minutes.

Step 12 –Transfer the loaf pan to a wire rack and let the bread cool.

Step 13 –Invert the bread onto the wire rack and let it cool completely.

Step 14 –Slice and serve.
