Surprise! These bites are remarkably easy and delicious! Surprise French Toast Sticks are a breezy and tasty breakfast treat with the rich, custard-like flavor of tender French toast in the center of each one! On the outside, a pan-fried cereal coating that is as audible as it is scrumptious! It’s really no surprise that everyone loves Surprise French Toast Sticks!


  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • nutmeg, to taste
  • 4 slices bread, cut into 1-inch-thick strips
  • 2 cups cornflake cereal, crushed
  • maple syrup, to taste, for dipping


Step 1 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter.

Step 2 –In a large bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the vanilla, the cinnamon, and the nutmeg.

Step 3 –Working one at a time, dip a bread strip into the egg mixture and then immediately dredge it through the crushed cereal, pressing the cereal into the bread to fully coat it.

Step 4 –Repeat the dipping and dredging process with the remaining bread strips.

Step 5 –Working in batches of 3-4 at a time, add the bread strips to the hot butter and cook until evenly golden-brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

Step 6 –Serve immediately with the maple syrup.
