Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more, for a worksurface
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk, plus more, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Butter the bottom of a skillet.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, combine the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, and the salt together.

Step 4 –Cut the butter into the flour mixture until it begins to look like cornmeal.

Step 5 –Make a well in the flour mixture and slowly add 3/4 cup of the milk into the middle of it.

Step 6 –Knead the dough with your fingers and add more of the milk if needed.

Step 7 –Roll the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to the desired thickness.

Step 8 –Cut the dough with a small biscuit cutter.

Step 9 –Place the biscuits in the prepared skillet and bake until they are golden-brown, about 12 minutes.
