  • 1 pound chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1/3 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls, warmed and halved horizontally
  • lettuce leaves, to taste, for serving
  • tomato, to taste, sliced, for serving
  • red onion, to taste, thinly sliced, for serving
  • blue cheese, to taste, crumbled, for serving


Step 1 –Place the chicken into a 3-quart slow cooker.

Step 2 –Add 2 tablespoons of the hot sauce and the pepper to the chicken and toss to combine.

Step 3 –Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook the chicken on low heat until it is tender, about 3-4 hours.

Step 4 –Transfer the chicken from the slow cooker and discard the cooking juices.

Step 5 –In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, the honey, and the remaining hot sauce and cook, while stirring occasionally, until blended.

Step 6 –Shred the chicken using two forks.

Step 7 –Stir the shredded chicken into the butter mixture and cook until it is heated through.

Step 8 –Divide the chicken onto the bottom buns and top with the lettuce leaves, the tomato, the onion, the blue cheese, and the top buns.

Step 9 –Serve.
