Ingredients

  • 6 cups Granny Smith apples, chopped and peeled
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1 –Combine the apples, brown sugar, apple juice, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt in a large, heavy saucepan.

Step 2 –Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender, about 45 minutes.

Step 3 –Let the apples sit for 5 minutes.
