Beef & Pork Burgers

Ingredients

  • 4 strips bacon, diced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups soft breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 8 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • mayonnaise, to taste
  • lettuce leaves, to taste
  • red onion, to taste
  • tomato slices, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the grill to medium heat.

Step 2 –Heat a small skillet over medium heat.

Step 3 –Add the bacon, the onion, and the garlic to the skillet and cook until the bacon is crisp.

Step 4 –Drain the bacon mixture.

Step 5 –In a small bowl, combine the bacon mixture, the breadcrumbs, the egg, the water, the parsley, the salt, the marjoram, the paprika, and the pepper.

Step 6 –Crumble the beef and the pork over the breadcrumb mixture and mix well.

Step 7 –Shape the meat mixture into eight 3/4-inch-thick patties.

Step 8 –Grill the patties, uncovered, until an instant thermometer inserted into the center reads 160 degrees F, about 4-5 minutes per side.

Step 9 –Serve the burgers on the buns topped with the mayonnaise, the lettuce, the onion, and the tomato.
