Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries, plus more, to taste, for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, plus more, to taste
  • 5 1/2 cups water, for boiling, plus 3 cups cold water, divided
  • 5 bags English Breakfast tea
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • ice, to taste, for serving
  • mint leaves, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –In a large, heat-resistant bowl, use a fork to mash the blackberries and 3 tablespoons of the sugar together.

Step 2 –In a pot, bring 5 1/2 cups of the water to a boil.

Step 3 –Add the tea bags to the boiling water, cover, and steep, about 6-8 minutes.

Step 4 –Discard the tea bags and pour the tea over the blackberry mixture, stirring to combine.

Step 5 –Let the tea mixture sit, uncovered, at room temperature for 1 hour.

Step 6 –Pour the tea through a wire-mesh strainer into a large pitcher.

Step 7 –Add the remaining 3 cups cold water to the tea mixture.

Step 8 –Taste the tea mixture and add the extra sugar if needed.

Step 9 –Cover and refrigerate the tea for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.

Step 10 –Place the lemon slices and the ice in cups.

Step 11 –Pour the tea into the glasses and garnish with the extra blackberries and the mint.

Step 12 –Serve.
