The name of this dessert may cause some puzzlement, but rest assured Dessert Lasagna refers to the richest, coolest, and most chocolatey layered cake you’ve ever tried. Dessert Lasagna has chocolate on virtually every layer, from a crumbly cookie crust to a fluffy chocolate mousse to a dense, creamy pudding. Topped with mini marshmallows, whipped cream, and perhaps more chocolate if you’re feeling daring, Dessert Lasagna is a decadent treat perfect for chocolate lovers, and you don’t even need to turn on the oven to enjoy it!

Ingredients

For the cookie crust:

  • 36 Oreo® cookies
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the hot chocolate cheesecake mousse layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5 (0.73 ounce) envelopes of instant hot cocoa mix, milk chocolate flavor
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

For the chocolate pudding layer:

  • 2 (3.8 ounce) chocolate instant pudding mixes
  • 2 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

For the topping:

  • 1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows, optional, for topping
  • chocolate topping or Nutella, optional, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Add the Oreos to a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. Add to a bowl.

Step 2 –Stir in the melted butter.

Step 3 –Press the Oreo mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch casserole dish.

Step 4 –Place the crust in the refrigerator to allow it to set.

Step 5 –Beat the softened butter and cream cheese together.

Step 6 –Add the vanilla and powdered sugar, beating until smooth.

Step 7 –In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream and hot cocoa powder with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Fold 1/2 of the hot cocoa mixture into the cream cheese mixture until combined, being gentle so as not to knock the air out of it.

Step 8 –Fold in the second 1/2 of the hot cocoa mixture into the cream cheese mix, remaining gentle while combining.

Step 9 –Spread the mousse mixture over the crust and place it back in the refrigerator to set.

Step 10 –Once the mousse has set, whisk the pudding mix with the milk until it begins to thicken.

Step 11 –Add the mini marshmallows and stir. Spread the pudding mixture over the set hot chocolate mousse layer and place back in the refrigerator to set.

Step 12 –Once the pudding layer has totally set, using an electric mixer, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar together until you have stiff peaks.

Step 13 –Spread the whipped cream over the top of the pudding layer and place it back in the refrigerator for a few hours, or even overnight.

Step 14 –Evenly distribute 2 cups of the mini marshmallows over the whipped cream topping prior to serving.

Step 15 –Drizzle with melted chocolate, Nutella, or another chocolate topping.

Step 16 –Serve chilled!
